Impact of the Anti-Vietnam War Protests
The Anti-War Movement had a significant impact on New Zealand as a nation.
The protests impacted on groups of PEOPLE. The families of veterans and the veterans themselves were negatively impacted and exposed to much resentment from the public. Hippies were also impacted by the movement in being able to explore alternative lifestyles.
On a larger scale, SOCIETY changed as a result of the protest. In the short term, New Zealand society was divided over the issue of New Zealand's involvement in Vietnam, into radicals and conservatives. In the long term, the Labour Party changed dramatically, as did the country's foriegn policy.
